Virtual Psychotherapy Based in SF

From the outside looking in, you have it all together, the happy life people your age are “supposed” to have.  You say the right things to the right people, you go to the right places, and seemingly have enough.  You know that’s a plan that was laid out a long time ago, by someone other than you, and you’re just not sure it’s the right one.

You are searching for more, more meaning, more fun, more adventure, but everyone else gives you a sideways glance when you even think about broaching the topic.  You worry then that you dream too big or aren’t grateful for what you have, but it never sits just right.

You know that this life is available to you, but you’re ready to explore what else might be out there.  You struggle to know yourself and as a result, it feels hard to let others get to know you, or for you to know them in a real way.  The circle of friends and those that you trust is small, but not by choice.

You worry that you don’t cope with this uncertainty well and wish you would have somebody who was just on your side.

My name is Caleb Birkhoff and I’m a San Francisco and California based therapist and my clients look like they have it all together, but that’s often a well rehearsed play they present to others.  They are searching for some indication that they’re on the right path, their path, and not just a good idea that someone handed them long ago.  They’re ready to explore what they’re passionate about, what matters to them, and not have to negotiate someone else’s opinion about what the “right” thing to do is.

I help those searching for their true path to uncover their sense of self and find some direction.  Together we can explore all the angles, consider all the options, and uncover who you really are.  With therapy you can shed the thing you were supposed to do, or be, and pick your own path.  You’ll learn to to make their own choices, instead of letting the world happen to them. I use humor to cut through the difficulty, add levity, and reflect on what’s been happening.  Therapy gets to be your space where everyone is on your team, just know that doesn’t always mean we’re going to agree.

If you’re ready to shed expectations and pick your own path call me for a complimentary (read free) 15 minute consultation at (415) 990-1452 or click below to build a plan to take your seat in the driver’s seat; whether the van life, relocating to europe, or a new business is calling you.
